Staff Profile

Our Administration

Helen graduated from Northeast Normal University in Chang Chun and her major was English.  She has many years of experience in teaching children English and school management. Helen believes that children’s education is the noblest and most rewarding job in this world! Educating each child to build a better world is her life-long dream! 

Lesley graduated from Jilin Foreign Language Institute in 2003 and is currently studying at the University of International Business and Economics, majoring in Business English. She has over 7 years of work experience in administration management and 4.5 years management experience in International Montessori Schools. Training in morals and good conduct is the foundation upon which all other learning rests at The Family Learning House.  She was moved by the education theory and would like to contribute in some way towards the achievement of the goals of The Family Learning House.

 

FanFan graduated from Qinhuangdao Foreign Language Professional College and received her Bachelor of English from UIBS in 2008.  FanFan loves the field of early childhood education and has been involved in this area for several years.  She has a deep understanding of business administration from her past experiences in this area. FanFan is very energetic and full of enthusiasm and hopes she can give all the parents, teachers and students any support they require.

 

Zhou Hong graduated from Beijing Education Academy and has more than twenty years of kindergarten working experience .She worked in a Chinese government kindergarten before as a school doctor and has six years working experience in this field. She is responsible, kind and takes care of the children with love and commitment. She hopes that each child will grow up to be healthy and happy.

 

Wei Dong, a Member  of  the Communist Party, enlisted  in  the army  for  eight  years.   He  has  worked  in Beijing  since 2003. He loves children, and enjoys  working in the kindergarten.  WeiDong   is in charge of  the safety of  the whole  school, and also does  administrative work . He is  always readily available   to offer  help to all the teachers and children .  He  is very content  when he sees  the smiling  faces  of  the children.

 

Teachers of Primary 1

Laura Roark is from America, she has been working with young children in China since 2001. She obtained her Montessori certification from Northeast Montessori Institute in Boston, MA and also holds a TESOL certificate from TEFL International and a Bachelor in Fashion Design. Passionate about helping less fortunate children, in her free time she published two children's books in China with proceeds benefiting The Tibetan Children's Initiative. In the classroom Laura strives to create an atmosphere where children are guided by their natural curiosity for learning and can explore their interests in a loving environment. Laura enjoys practicing yoga and Chinese Tai Chi as well as painting and calligraphy. An avid traveler, she has explored many countries and cultures in Asia. Laura is fluent in Mandarin Chinese and has a deep understanding and love for the Chinese people and culture.

Maggie graduated from Beijing Dongcheng District Vocational School in 1995 and majored in pre-school education. After that she got a Bachelor’s degree in English at Beijing Secondary Foreign Languages Institute. She has 11 years of teaching experience with 3.5 of those years spent in International Montessori Schools. Maggie enjoys being with her students and sharing her knowledge with them. She is willing to devote her heart and her patience to all her students by being very attentive to their daily needs. She loves children very much!

 

Ping Ping loves teaching children because of the great joy she gets from seeing them grow and develop. She studied management and computer information and application in  university, but has always been involved as a volunteer in teaching children because of her keen interest in early childhood education. After having taken training on virtues education conducted by the ‘Virtues in Us’ project in Beijing, Ping Ping officially became a virtues teacher. She loves to see children in a virtuous atmosphere, to explore the special potential and quality in children, to tell stories so that they can feel the beauty in them, to play games and sing songs, to see children feel the power of virtues through games and songs and practicing all kinds of virtues. Ping Ping is currently studying and hopes to obtain her international Montessori certification(3-6years old) by August,  2010.

 

Sunila is originally from the UK. She graduated from the University of Sheffield in 2006 with her BA in East Asian Studies. Sunila joined the Family Learning House in 2009 as an English teacher. She loves working in a Montessori school and was inspired to study for her certification as an Early Childhood Directress. She has also completed her Virtues in Us training and Parent Effectiveness Training.  In her free time Sunila volunteers at Bluesky Foster Home. She also enjoys travelling and photography.

 

NingYiwei graduated from Shandong Changle Education Vocational in 2002. She majored in children’s education, primary education and special education. In 2004, she graduated from Shandong Normal University and already has 7 years of working experience in primary schools and kindergartens. She loves children and enjoys working with them. It brings her great joy to see smiles on the faces of the children. NingYiwei hopes to teach the children what she has learnt while dedicating her love to them all. She hopes through her efforts she can help them grow.

 

Lylah is currently working towards her Montessori Early Childhood Certification. She believes that the Montessori way gives children an excellent opportunity to be the best they can be.  She hopes that she can impart the love of learning to the students. Lylah, her husband and two children have been living in China for 2 years.  Prior to that, they were assigned to Switzerland for 3 years.  She has experienced that being exposed to different cultures promotes respect and understanding between people.  Lylah is an AB Communication Arts graduate from Manila, the Philippines.

 

Teachers of Primary 2

Lucy has always wanted to be a teacher. She graduated from Chaoyang Teacher's School in 1995. Lucy then studied English for 3 years at Beijing Second Foreign Language Institute. She has worked in Montessori kindergarten for 6 years and completed her AMS training in 2006. Lucy loves the Montessori pedagogy because she enjoys seeing the children have more freedom to explore their environment and absorb all aspects of knowledge independently and joyfully. Lucy enjoys traveling, swimming and watching movies.
Ms. Du graduated from SongZi Normal School in 1989 majoring in children's education and in 2000 she graduated from HuaZhong Normal University majoring in primary education. She has been teaching children and elementary students since 1989. Ms Du has 8 years work experience in bilingual elementary school and kindergarten. She joined The Family Learning House as a Chinese teacher." I will give all my love to the children and my greatest wish is to see the children have a happy and healthy life."

Dustin is from San Francisco. He received his B.S. from UCSD in June 2009 where he gained experience tutoring. Dustin has received additional training in Virtues and P.E.T from the Family Learning House over the last eight months of his employment. Dustin's interests are eclectic and range from cooking to philosophy. He is passionate about education and hopes to help each child reach their potential.

 
Sara graduated from Hebei Vocational University and major in music education. She has acquired the middle school teaching certificate. She has 3 years working experience as a kindergarten teacher. Sara enjoys working in the kindergarten and is good at communicating and working with the children. She will care for the children with her love and use her professional skill and culture to guide and educate them. Sara enjoys music, reading and traveling.
Shanshan graduated from Beijing Second Foreign Language University with her BA in English in 2001. She loves children very much. She worked for the Family Learning House as a translator in 2004. She spent 2 years translating <Anne of Green Gables>, one of the most famous children’s novel in Canada, into Chinese. After four and a half years working for a non-profit tourism organization in Toronto, she has now moved back to Beijing and devoted herself to becoming a Montessori teacher. She is currently completing her AMS training and will work in The Family Learning House as an intern from September 2010 through June 2011.

Teachers of Primary 3

“Love for children is the reason why I have worked as a teacher for 9 years.” Phoebe is very interested in anything to do with children and their education. She is particularly inspired when she sees children practicing the virtues.  Phoebe graduated from Tianjin Infant Normal Institute in 1999 and then studied English for one year at the Beijing Foreign Studies University in 2006. She completed her AMS training in 2009.  “Every child is special and here at TFLH I would like to work together with all the parents, who give the most love to their children, to build a harmonious, joyful and educational environment for the children.” 
His name is Tom and he has been teaching English in China since 2005. He previously worked in childcare in Australia and prefers the Montessori style of teaching as a result of this. He enjoys the Montessori style of teaching because he feels a closer connection and relationship with the students when compared to a normal kindergarten environment. Teaching for him feels more like fun than a job as he enjoys the rewards, challenges and especially the smiles it brings him from day to day.
Dan Yang has 5 years working experience in kindergarten. She graduated from Higher Teacher Training Vocational School in Heilongjiang province. She is currently studying at the Beijing Education Institute. She understands child psychology and their daily habits and is able to manage a class and communicate well with the children. She also loves children. She has a cheerful personality, practices responsibility, love, patience and has a strong ability to build close relationship with children. She has good observation skills and is able to create different teaching methods for different individuals and is good at group activities, music activities and activities. She also has Montessori, Chinese, and kindergarten piano teaching experience.
YanYan graduated in 2005 from Beijing Dongcheng Normal School. She is currently studying to be a preschool education specialist at Beijing Institute of Education. She worked for 4 years at the Zhong Zu Bu kindergarten as a lead teacher and as a result has a good working knowledge of child development and child psychology. YanYan is responsible, very patient and she loves children. She believes that virtues education and the Montessori pedagogy provide the children with a happy learning environment and it brings out the best in them.
Her  name is Liu Aixia. She come from Hanyang City, Hehan Province. she graduated from the First Normal Institute of Nanyang. After graduation she came to Beijing in order to continue making progress and perfect herself. Here she had the chance to meet and get to know a lot of lovely children and experienced teachers. Recently she joined the Family Learning House believing that she could learn a lot and realize her dream of becoming a better teacher. 
Emily graduated from the University of Wollongong, Australia in 2007 with a Master’s degree. She has worked at a children’s fashion company in Sydney. She loves early child education and worked as an instructor at early childhood institute when she returned from Australia. She is now taking the training courses for the American Montessori Society (AMS) Certificate. Working with children always makes her feel happy and she wants to bring love, peace and joy to our children.  

Teachers of Primary 4

Lily has 7 years English teaching experience. She graduated from the department of English Education in Huanghuai University of Henan in 2006. She was an Olympic volunteer in 2008. Lily attended the 12-day virtues training in 2009. She finished studying Teaching Chinese as A Second Language at Beijing Language and Culture University and she also completed PET course in 2010. She is completing her AMS training in 2011. Lily loves working with children and enjoys assisting them to fulfill their potential with love and wisdom.  
DongDong graduated from Shandong Qilu Conservatory of Music.  She received the Certificate of Early
Childhood  Teaching in 2010. She has three years working experience. She loves teaching children and enjoys being with them because they give her so much joy whenever she looks at the pure smiles on their faces. She feels happiest when she imparts her knowledge  with them and teaches them dancing. She will try her very best to work hard in this montessori environment so that the children here can enjoy learning in a happy and caring environment.
Christa is originally from Switzerland but has been moving around the world since she was one year old. She spent many of her earlier years in Asia, living in Singapore, Indonesia and Taiwan. In 2003, she moved to the United States to attend the University of San Francisco. During this time she received a Bachelors degree in Psychology as well as a Master’s Degree in Teacher Education. Christa also holds a California Teaching Certificate. For her Masters in teaching, she wrote her thesis on, “Implementing Emotional Intelligence Learning into the Kindergarten Classroom.” Christa strongly feels that in order to be more successful in life, children need to be taught skills that increase both their IQ and their EQ. Christa really enjoys being a teacher because she loves children and she believes working with them is one of the most rewarding jobs in the world!
Angie graduated from Yuncheng Normal Institute in Shanxi province. Presently she is studying at Beijing Open University ,majoring in Business English. She has been working with children for 6 years, and has gained a lot of happiness from being with children and growing with them. Through this she has gained a better understanding of early childhood education.  She ‘ll continue to work with passion, love and sincerity to enable children to enjoy every day at TFLH.  

Teachers of Primary 5

Su-Yeeng enjoys working with children. It brings her joy to see them learn and grow. Working with the children has made her see the importance of being a teacher and therefore inspired her to pursue the education field. She completed her MCI Montessori training in Malaysia in 2008. She has experience teaching English to Chinese high school students and 1 year experience working in a Montessori Kindergarten. Su-Yeeng enjoys movies, music, drawing, and sports.  
Ivy graduated from Harbin University in 2002; she has 6 years teaching experience.  In order to offer professional Montessori teaching to children, she trained with AMI and obtained her International Montessori Certification (3-6years old) in August,  2010.  She hopes she can impart to the children her love of learning and help them become independent and loving members of society. Ivy’s tenet is: I am willing to offer all my love, patience and care to each child!
Sandy graduated from Anhui Hexian Children Normal Institute in 2003. She has been majoring in Pre-school Education at Beijing Normal University. She has been engaged in the field of children’s education for four years. Additionally, she has served as a parents-child teacher for two  years. She insists on applying Montessori education ideas to practice. Sandy thinks that she has not only worked hard but also enjoyed the process of the happy growth within the last six years. She thinks that adults should understand, respect and believe children, and  that  teachers should understand their world and feel their mood from their perspectives even more. This is the only way that you can get love and respect from children. 
Annie graduated from Qingdao University with an English major in 2008. She is not only fluent in English, but also holds interests in photography, travel and reading . She has a gentle and modest personality and a great passion for children’s education.  She values the importance of virtues education and believes:  “Every child is an angel.   I would like to be the care giver of every angel with my great love and patience.”

Teachers of Reception

Renee graduated from Chang Chun Teacher's College in Jilin and her major is English. She has three years English teaching experience in elementary school and almost four years experiences in international Montessori kindergarten. She is interested in educating children and loves to work with children. She has completed her AIM training currently .She will use her professional knowledge and her love and patience to help children  
Jimei graduated from Mongolia ChiFeng College in 2005 with a major in Childhood Education.  She has gained five years of teaching experience with children since she graduated.  “I love children very much and I will treat them very kindly, patiently and respectfully.” 
Quynh has taught both children and adults since 1998, but her true passion lies in working and interacting with children.  She finds their youth, curiosity and unconditional enjoyment of life a true inspiration and privilege to witness.  Quynh grew up in the United States, where she earned both her Bachelor’s in International Affairs and her Master’s in Teaching English as a Second Language.  After having children of her own, she now has a great interest in expanding her repertoire to include Early Childhood Education.  In addition to education and language acquisition, her interests also include:  tap dancing, photography, culinary arts, creating photo books, and effective parenting.  She spends her spare time listening to music, singing, dancing and playing with her children and husband!
SunMin graduated from Qingdao Normal University.   She has 3 years of working experience in early childhood education and has worked as an administrator in her previous kindergarten.  She also participated in the high-level leadership training program at the Beijing Normal University in the summer of 2009. The pure smile and laughter of every child brings so much happiness to SunMin. She believes early childhood education is the pulse of the world’s career.  We use passion, love, and respect in guiding the children . She believes children are able to develop healthily in such a nourishing environment. SunMin loves to dance and surf the net in her spare time. 

Teachers of Toddler 1

Grace worked for almost 6 years at TFLH before graduating from Beijing Foreign Studies University. She completed her AMI Montessori training course to be a Montessori Diploma Directress of Infancy (from 0 to 3 years of age) in February 2009. She also completed the Virtue in Us training in 2005. "I like Yoga and through it I hope to be able to teach the children about joy and peacefulness." "I feel very happy when I play and work with them together, I learned a lot from the children. I believe that every child is very special and can be a brilliant gem. We can guide them to develop their inner excellent potential and allow their radiance to shine out!"
Jessica has always wanted to be a teacher. She graduated from Shijiazhuang University in 2008. Dancers to participate in 2007 China Association of Chinese children's stars dance training, China Association of registered teacher's dancers. Jessica teachers are very friendly, to be creative and have a solid foundation of professional knowledge. Jessica enjoys, traveling, Photography and swimming.
Christine has a degree in Economics and a Masters’ Degree in Business Administration from the Philippines. She has lived and worked in Hong Kong, Singapore, the U.S., India and most recently, in Jordan where she was Marketing Director for an educational solutions company. Having 3 boys between the ages of 3 and 5 years old, Christine has developed an interest in child development and education.  She brings a wealth of international cultural experience and English fluency to the classroom. She welcomes the opportunity to be able to give back and contribute in some way towards the achievement of the goals of The Family Learning House.

Teachers of Toddler 2

Yuan Yuan graduated from Inner Mongolia Higher Vocational School in 2000 with a major in Child Education. She finished Child and Elementary Education in 2005. Since 2005 Yuan Yuan has worked in kindergartens. She completed her AMS Montessori training course. She has four years experience working for the “Mummy and Me” program and is currently a lead teacher at The Family Learning House. Yuan Yuan loves children very much and feels that all children are very optimistic, positive, and lovely by nature. Her dream is to be of service to children and help them grow up to be well-rounded human beings. 
Ming Zhu graduated  from Huazhong Normal University. She has been a full time mother for the past eight years to her daughter and son, and  has a lot of experience interacting with children. She has been teaching children with great love and respect at The Family Learning House since March, 2010. She believes every child is unique and precious and hopes they will have a wonderful time in The Family Learning House.  She wishes to encourage them to grow not only physically but also spiritually and contribute to society!
Laura is from Leeds, England. In 2010 she graduated with a BA Hons in Chinese and South East Asian Studies. Having previously taught in a school whilst studying at Capital Normal University in 2008, she discovered a passion for China and its culture. The time spent in China inspired her to return and learn more about teaching with particular regard to the Montessori programme. Laura enjoys interacting with children and sharing her knowledge with them. In her free time she loves to travel and has been backpacking all around South East Asia and Europe. 

Teachers of Toddler 3

Lily graduated from Children’s Normal College of Beijing West City and has been working in the field of children’s education for 13 years. She completed her AMS Montessori training course. She started as a Toddler Community teaching assistant with The Family Learning House, Shunyi September 2004.  Lily has participated in professional development at TFLH and has her Chinese Ministry of Education Kindergarten and Elementary teaching credentials.  Lily is also a certified music teacher for early childhood.   
Jenny graduated from Taishan University in 2008 majoring in English education. She chose to be a teacher because she loves children. Through her work at TFLH she has seen that the Montessori philosophy allows children to work independently and to develop many virtues which are often different from traditional education. Jenny enjoys travelling, reading and surfing the internet. 
Brittany graduated from the University of South Carolina in America. She majored in Cultural Anthropology with a minor in East Asian Studies. Her passion for travel and East Asian culture motivated her to leave the States for the first time and come to China.  Brittany is interested in learning more about the Chinese culture and language. Having grown up with two younger brothers, she knew that teaching children would be the perfect opportunity. She has a passion for photography and films. She is very excited about learning more about the Montessori style of teaching.
Nicole graduated from Foreign Language Institute of Capital Normal University, and has been working in the travel industry for 10 years.  As a mother of a one-year old, Nicole is currently completing her AMS training (0-3 infant and Toddler).  She wants to help children grow up happily with love and patience. 

 

Other Teachers

Cherry graduated from Hebei Normal University in 2003 majoring in music education. She studied at the School of Continuing Education, Central Conservatory of Music in 2008 and completed her level 1~3 piano teacher qualifications. Cherry has been working as a piano teacher for 3 years and is now the piano teacher at The Family Learning House. "I love teaching piano and working with each student. I would like to devote all my time to enthusiastically guide the children to the sacred temple of music."
In 1999, Anna graduated from Chao Yang Childhood Education Normal School with a major in piano education. Since graduating she has been working as a piano teacher.  Now she is pursuing music education in Capital Normal University, majoring in piano education once again.  She is currently a fulltime piano teacher at TFLH.  Anna will treat all her children with love and patience and use her professional knowledge to guide them. 
Liang laoshi graduated from Chang Chun Teacher's College as a physical education major, and went on to acquire his master’s at Beijing Normal University in the same field. He worked at Daystar Academy for five years. His strength in the curriculum is in soccer, gym, Ping Pong, and martial arts. He is full of energy, enthusiasm, and patience. He is a natural at inspiring children’s desire to learn, especially for the beginner student.  He is also a talent in the direction of precise movement and quick comprehension.
